Donald Trump has been doing a great job so far making deals, talking to leaders and picking cabinet appointments. Even though he isn’t even president until January, he has accomplished a lot. However, Newt Gingrich just revealed something that could upset some Trump supporters.
On an interview with NPR, Newt Gingrich discussed how Trump will become more “dignified” and drop some of his undignified terminology. According to Gingrich, Trump has been questioning the terminology of the term “drain the swamp”.
“I’m told he now just disclaims that. He now says it was cute, but he doesn’t want to use it anymore…He’s in a different role now and maybe he feels that as president, as the next president of the United States, that he should be marginally more dignified than talking about alligators in swamps.”
This isn’t the first time recently that Trump went back on the rhetoric that he ran on, he recently calmed a crowd down that shouted “Lock her up! Lock her up!”
“Oh, that’s so terrible…Four weeks ago–just prior to, always prior to–you people were vicious, violent, screaming: ‘Where’s the Wall! We want the Wall!’ Screaming: ‘Prison, prison! Lock her up!’ I mean, you are going crazy. I mean, you were nasty, and mean, and vicious, and you wanted to win, right?
…but now, now it’s much different. Now, you’re laid back, you’re cool, you’re mellow, right? You’re basking in the glory of victory, and we’re already getting to work,” said Trump. Do you see this as Trump going back on his word? Or is this a welcome change?
